Criptoactivos como fuente de financiamiento para pymes en Argentina

Abstract

La investigación se centró en analizar la factibilidad y beneficios de adoptar las ofertas iniciales de monedas (ICO) como fuente de financiamiento para pymes en Argentina, con un enfoque particular en la empresa "Promat Ocean SA". El análisis presentado fue de alcance descriptivo y se focalizó en las características específicas del fenómeno investigado. Se eligió una empresa representativa del sector de servicios médicos, dispuesta a colaborar, lo que permitió obtener información detallada y relevante. Los resultados mostraron que las ICOs son inversiones de alto riesgo debido a su falta de regulación y que los criptoactivos carecen de curso legal y respaldo, ya que no son emitidos por el Banco Central de la República Argentina (BCRA) ni por ninguna autoridad monetaria internacional. Invertir en tokens implica un riesgo significativo por la incertidumbre de los rendimientos y la alta volatilidad del mercado. Para llevar a cabo una ICO, las pymes deben contar con profesionales idóneos y con conocimientos en criptoactivos, ya que los riesgos son numerosos y la posibilidad de demandas por fraude y publicidad engañosa está presente. Se concluyó que, aunque las ICOs tienen el potencial de ser una solución eficaz para los desafíos de financiamiento de las pymes, su éxito dependerá de la implementación de regulaciones claras y efectivas, así como de la educación y familiarización de los actores involucrados con las tecnologías blockchain. Solo entonces las ICOs podrán cumplir con su promesa de ser una alternativa viable y segura en el mundo financiero.

The investigation focused on analyzing the feasibility and benefits of adopting initial coin offerings (ICOs) as a source of financing for SMEs in Argentina, with a particular focus on the company "Promat Ocean SA". The analysis presented had a descriptive scope and focused on the specific characteristics of the investigated phenomenon. We selected a representative company from the medical services sector, willing to collaborate, which allowed us to obtain detailed and relevant information. The results showed that ICOs are high-risk investments due to their lack of regulation, and crypto assets lack legal tender and support as they are not recognized by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) or any international monetary authority. Investing in tokens involves significant risk due to uncertainty in returns and high market volatility. To carry out an ICO, SMEs need to have suitable professionals with knowledge of crypto assets, as there are numerous risks and the possibility of lawsuits for fraud and false advertising. It was concluded that although ICOs have the potential to be an effective solution for SME financing challenges, their success will depend on the implementation of clear and effective regulations, as well as on educating and familiarizing stakeholders with blockchain technology. Only then can ICOs fulfill their promise of being a viable and secure alternative in the financial world.
