At a global level, there is an increasing consensus within the healthcare community that the strategic and innovative use of Information and Communication Technologies will be a key factor in ensuring quality healthcare. In recent years —especially since the COVID-19 pandemic— significant progress has been made in this regard. In Argentina, various sectors of the healthcare ecosystem have been implementing information systems that are not interconnected, which hinders data flow between different providers and limits the exchange and sharing of medical information. Government entities have emphasized the need to adopt interoperable systems that guarantee patient data privacy. However, much work remains to be done. As a way to contribute to the access and shared use of health information, this study proposes analyzing the feasibility of implementing, in the city of Bahía Blanca, an innovative technological solution —virtual and patient-centered— called “Health Documentation Repository.”
