This study aims to describe the environmental and sustainable criteria that influence clothing purchasing decisions of consumers in the city of Santa Fe. In a context where the textile industry has been identified as one of the most polluting globally (UNEP, 2020), understanding how consumers position themselves regarding fashion consumption acquires significant importance. A structured survey with 24 questions was applied to a non-probabilistic sample of individuals over 18 years of age residing in the city. Using a mixed approach (descriptive quantitative and qualitative), knowledge, perceptions, barriers, and responsible consumption practices were analyzed. The results allow the identification of the level of awareness regarding textile sustainability and the most frequent obstacles to incorporating ethical and environmental criteria in purchasing decisions. This document aspires to generate relevant contributions as input for future field research, public, educational, or commercial initiatives that promote a transition toward more ethical and sustainable fashion consumption.
