Grooming is the sexual abuse of children and adolescents through internet-connected devices. It is a threat to young people around the world. The fact that the expansion of internet use for all kinds of daily activities is increasing has led to consequences that affect minors in terms of the abuses practiced through social networks. Cyberspace is not an abstract vacuum without consequences; it is a social scenario where interaction between people is built, directly affecting their real lives and producing risks and dangers that were unknown until recently. Sexual harassment through social networks is a current problem that affects children and adolescents. Their lack of knowledge and innocence in most cases make them potential victims in this anonymous, masked, and uncontrolled cyberspace. There is a variety of techniques used by online offenders to manipulate young people and different ways in which young people engage in risky behaviors online. While models and typologies can help professionals understand the crime, it is important to recognize that internet offenders, victims, and the dynamics between them are often unique and do not fit the common sexual abuser stereotypes. This work aims to show that grooming is a relatively unknown crime despite being a very common occurrence in Argentina. Not all cases are reported, either out of fear, guilt, shame, or lack of awareness. The victims are children and adolescents, mostly between 9 and 13 years old and very rarely older than 13 years.
