Criptoactivos: Emisión de ICO como método de financiación para pymes

Abstract

La investigación se basó en evaluar la emisión de las Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) como una alternativa económica y dinámica para pequeñas y medianas empresas en Argentina, con un alcance que abarcó el análisis del marco regulatorio, tratamiento contable y los procedimientos de emisión para evaluar la utilidad y los riesgos de la emisión de ICO a nivel local. Los materiales incluyeron una revisión bibliográfica sobre regulaciones y normativas contables, tales como NIIF y NCA, y un análisis de caso aplicado a la empresa Ricardo Venturino S.A., en los cuales se consideraron costos estimados de emisión y requerimientos técnicos y legales para lanzar una ICO. Los resultados apuntaron la existencia de un vacío normativo a nivel local, lo cual genera incertidumbre para los emisores y limita la transparencia. También se observó que las diferencias entre las NIIF y las normas contables argentinas provocan complejidad en la presentación financiera de los tokens emitidos, lo que afecta la claridad de los estados contables. En este sentido, aunque las ICO ofrecen acceso a un mercado global, hay distintas cuestiones que limitan su adopción. Por lo cual, se concluyó que, aunque la emisión de ICO representa una alternativa innovadora, no es la opción más viable bajo el contexto regulatorio actual.

The research was based on evaluating Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) as an economic and dynamic alternative for small and medium-sized companies in Argentina, with a scope that covered the analysis of the regulatory framework, accounting treatment, and issuance procedures to assess the usefulness and risks of ICO issuance at the local level. The materials included a literature review on accounting regulations and standards, such as IFRS and EAS, and a case analysis applied to the company Ricardo Venturino S.A., in which estimated issuance costs and technical and legal requirements to launch an ICO were considered. The results pointed to the existence of a regulatory vacuum at the local level, which generates uncertainty for issuers and limits transparency. It was also observed that the differences between IFRS and Argentine accounting standards cause complexity in the financial presentation of the tokens issued, which affects the clarity of the financial statements. In this sense, although ICOs offer access to a global market, there are different issues that limit their adoption. Therefore, it was concluded that, although the issuance of ICOs represents an innovative alternative, it is not the most viable option under the current regulatory context.
